Our story

A Local Company Built on 25 Years of Sliding-Door Experience

Sliding Doors Prime was founded by Mike Donovan, a sliding-door specialist with 25 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, repairing, and installing sliding doors.

Mike's connection to the trade began long before Sliding Doors Prime was established. He learned sliding doors from the inside out—not only how to replace individual parts, but how complete door systems are designed, manufactured, assembled, balanced, and installed.

This manufacturing background gave Mike a deeper understanding of how every component works together. The rollers must match the design and weight of the panel. The track must support smooth and level movement. The frame must remain properly aligned, and the handle and locking mechanism must fit the door correctly and operate securely.

When one component is worn, damaged, or incorrectly installed, it can affect the performance of the entire door.

Over the years, Mike has worked with a wide variety of sliding-door styles, manufacturers, configurations, and hardware. He saw how quickly a beautiful sliding door could become a daily frustration—and how often homeowners were told to replace an entire door when the correct repair could restore it.

That experience and repair-first philosophy became the foundation of Sliding Doors Prime.

The founder

Meet Mike Donovan

Mike Donovan brings 25 years of practical sliding-door knowledge to every project.

His experience includes sliding-door manufacturing, professional repair, custom component solutions, and complete installations. Because he understands how doors are constructed, he can look beyond the obvious symptom and determine what is causing the problem.

A door may feel heavy because of damaged rollers, but the rollers may not be the only issue. The track could be worn, the frame may be out of alignment, or the existing hardware may not properly support the weight of the glass.

Mike believes that a lasting repair begins with understanding the complete system. This attention to detail allows Sliding Doors Prime to provide solutions tailored to the actual door instead of treating every project the same way.

Our passion

Why We Chose Sliding Doors

We genuinely love sliding doors and the way they can transform a home.

A beautiful sliding glass door brings natural light into a room, creates an open feeling, and connects the home to a patio, balcony, backyard, pool, or view. This connection between indoor and outdoor living is especially important in Southern California, where sliding doors are used throughout the year.

But when a sliding door becomes heavy, noisy, difficult to lock, or nearly impossible to move, that beautiful feature can become one of the most frustrating parts of the home.

Some customers stop using the door completely. Others struggle with it every day, using both hands and their full body weight just to move it a few inches. Families may worry about a child or older relative getting hurt, while property owners may be concerned about security, damaged flooring, or additional wear on the door frame.

We enjoy solving these problems because the improvement is immediate and meaningful.

“We love the moment when a customer discovers that the same heavy door can glide smoothly with the touch of one finger.”

The surprise and smile on the customer's face are a big part of why we continue to love this work.

Our service area

Sliding-Door Specialists Serving Greater Los Angeles

Sliding Doors Prime proudly provides professional sliding-door repair and installation throughout Greater Los Angeles and surrounding Southern California communities.

Los Angeles has an incredible variety of properties. We encounter older homes that still have their original sliding-door systems, modern residences with large glass panels, apartments with compact balcony doors, luxury properties with oversized multi-panel systems, and commercial buildings with high-traffic sliding entrances.

Every property—and every door—presents a different challenge.

Local conditions can also affect sliding-door performance. Dust and debris accumulate inside tracks. Coastal air and moisture may contribute to corrosion. Direct sunlight and temperature changes can affect certain materials, while years of frequent use gradually wear down rollers, locks, handles, and other moving components.

Our experience with these conditions helps us identify the source of the problem and recommend a solution suited to the door, the property, and the customer's needs.

We serve homeowners, landlords, property managers, real estate professionals, and businesses across Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley, Pasadena, Glendale, Burbank, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Long Beach, Orange County, and nearby communities.

These are service areas, and we do not claim to maintain a physical office in every community we serve.

Every kind of door

Specialists in All Types of Sliding Doors

Sliding doors are not all constructed the same way. Their size, weight, frame material, glass thickness, track design, hardware, and locking systems can vary significantly.

Our extensive experience allows us to work with a broad range of residential and commercial sliding-door systems, including:

  • Sliding glass patio doors
  • Aluminum and vinyl sliding doors
  • Wood-framed sliding doors
  • Oversized and heavy glass doors
  • Double and multi-panel sliding-door systems
  • Pocket and bypass doors
  • Sliding screen doors
  • Closet sliding doors
  • Balcony and condominium sliding doors
  • Commercial sliding glass doors
  • Electronic and automatic sliding doors
  • Older and difficult-to-identify door systems
  • New sliding-door installations

Whether the door is modern, older, standard, oversized, or custom-built, we inspect the complete system before recommending a solution.

The right hardware

A Wide Selection of Rollers, Tracks, Handles and Locks

One of the biggest challenges in sliding-door repair is identifying and obtaining the correct hardware.

There are many types and sizes of rollers, wheel assemblies, tracks, handles, mortise locks, latches, guides, and replacement components. Two doors may appear nearly identical from the outside while using entirely different internal parts.

Installing a component that is almost correct is not good enough. An improperly matched roller may not support the weight of the glass correctly. An incorrect handle or mortise lock may create alignment or security problems. A poorly fitted track solution can cause new rollers to wear prematurely.

Sliding Doors Prime works with a broad variety of sliding-door components, including:

  • Single and tandem roller assemblies
  • Steel, nylon, and corrosion-resistant rollers
  • Bottom and upper tracks
  • Track caps and track-repair systems
  • Interior and exterior door handles
  • Recessed pulls and complete handle sets
  • Mortise locks and hook locks
  • Latches, keepers, and locking mechanisms
  • Guides, bumpers, screws, and specialty hardware
  • Components for older or discontinued doors

This broad knowledge helps us match the repair to the specific door instead of forcing a generic solution onto every system.

Creative problem-solving

Custom-Manufactured Parts and Creative Solutions

Mike's manufacturing experience is especially valuable when a standard replacement part is no longer available.

Older sliding doors may use rollers, tracks, locks, or hardware that manufacturers have discontinued. Imported, custom-built, and unusually sized doors may also require components that cannot be purchased from a typical supplier.

In these situations, replacing the entire door should not automatically be the only option.

Depending on the design and condition of the system, we may be able to modify, fabricate, or custom-fit a component for the existing door. This ability allows us to approach difficult repairs with patience and creativity and may help preserve doors that still have many years of useful life remaining.

We enjoy projects that require genuine problem-solving, including doors that other companies may not recognize or may immediately recommend replacing.

Our philosophy

Our Repair-Before-Replacement Philosophy

At Sliding Doors Prime, we believe in repairing an existing sliding door whenever doing so is safe, practical, and cost-effective.

A heavy door does not always mean that the entire system has failed. The problem may be caused by worn rollers, a damaged section of track, incorrect adjustment, accumulated debris, frame misalignment, or hardware that no longer fits correctly.

That is why we begin with an inspection of the complete door. We evaluate the rollers, track, frame, alignment, glass, handle, and locking system before explaining the available options.

If a professional repair can restore smooth and reliable operation, we will recommend it. If the door is structurally damaged or replacement is the better long-term solution, we will explain why and help the customer understand the next step.

Our goal is to provide the right solution—not simply the most expensive one.

Full-service care

Repair, Installation and Complete Sliding-Door Care

Our work includes much more than replacing rollers. Sliding Doors Prime provides comprehensive solutions for sliding-door systems, including:

Whether a customer needs a minor adjustment, a complex custom repair, or a complete new installation, we bring the same care and attention to the project.

What to expect

What Our Customers Can Expect

Inviting a service technician into your home or business requires trust. We want every customer to feel informed and comfortable throughout the service.

Our process begins by listening. We ask how the problem started, how the door is normally used, and what changes the customer has noticed. We then inspect the system and explain what we find in clear language.

Our approach is based on:

  • Honest recommendations
  • Clear explanations
  • Respect for the customer's property
  • Careful and detailed workmanship
  • Quality parts suited to the specific door
  • Repairing before replacing whenever practical
  • Leaving the work area clean
  • Thoroughly testing the door before completing the job

We do not consider a repair complete simply because the door moves. It should be properly aligned, operate as smoothly as the system allows, close correctly, and lock securely.
